What is CryptoBlock?

CryptoBlock is a dangerous ransomware type of virus that will encrypt your files if it enters your computer. Essentially, most ransomware is the same, usually only the ransom amount is different. They all spread mainly via malicious spam emails and encrypt files. When CryptoBlock has done what it was developed to do, it will demand that you pay money to get your files back.

Unfortunately, there currently is no other way to decrypt the files. However, even paying does not guarantee file decryption, as the main goal of cyber criminals is money, and not your file restoration. Granted, CryptoBlock does not ask for that much money, when compared to other ransomware, but it’s still money. Are you willing to pay, knowing that you may not get your files back? We don’t think you should. Instead, we recommend you remove CryptoBlock from your computer.

Why is CryptoBlock so dangerous?

First of all, you need to know how CryptoBlock spreads. It uses the same methods as the majority of ransomware, and that is spam emails. That is the easiest way to spread because all developers need to do is attach an infected file to the email and send it to users. When the user opens it, the ransomware will download onto your computer. With just one click of a button, you could possible loose all your files. This is why it’s so crucial that you do not go about opening email attachments without confirming they are safe. When dealing with emails from unknown senders, take the time to look into the contents and the sender of the email.

Once CryptoBlock enters your computer, there’s little you can do. It will start encrypting your files using RSA-2048 asymmetric cryptography. Two keys will be generated, a private and a public one. The public one is used to encrypt your files and the private – to decrypt. The private key is hidden in a remote server that only the hackers have access to. They will try to sell you the decryption key for 0.3 Bitcoins ($237) and it is stated that the ransom will double every 12 hours. Despite these threats, consider carefully before you pay. You should invest that money if reliable backup, so that it you were to get infected again, file loss would not be an issue. We suggest you ignore the demands and make sure you delete CryptoBlock. And if you had backup prior to the infection, you can access your files there. However, note that you must remove CryptoBlock first.

CryptoBlock removal

Manual CryptoBlock removal can be complicated and you might end up damaging your computer if you are not careful. For this reason, we recommend using powerful anti-malware software to delete CryptoBlock from your computer. It should be able to erase CryptoBlock without issue. Unfortunately, it will not restore your files.
