About KawaiiLocker Virus

KawaiiLocker Virus is another ransomware that is high on the danger list due to its aim to encrypt data. Computers can get infected via spam email and once KawaiiLocker Virus is on your computer, it starts encrypting your files. A note will then appear, saying that if victims want their data back, they need to pay to get a decryption key. Usually the decryption key is the only way to get the files back. But we never recommend paying the ransom as it usually does not guarantee file recovery. What you should focus on is on how to uninstall KawaiiLocker Virus.

How did KawaiiLocker virus get on my computer

These kinds of ransomware are usually spread via spam emails. Most people still have the habit of opening spam emails with attachments and that’s how they end up with ransomware invading their computers. Virus developers take advantage of this and send out virus infected spams to potential victims. When the attachment is opened, the ransomware begins infecting your computer. Ransomware can be one of the most damaging viruses out there so you really do not want to put yourself at risk. Refrain from opening spam emails and you will be saving yourself a lot of trouble by not having to lose files and having to remove KawaiiLocker Virus and similar threats.

What does KawaiiLocker Virus do

Once KawaiiLocker Ransomware infects your computer, it looks for certain files and then uses the AES cipher to encrypt them. The .2xx9 file extension is added to those files and you can not open them. When the encryption process is complete, victims will see a READ_ME.txt file which is basically a ransom note. Users will be then informed that their devices has been infected and they need to pay to get a decryption key to restore the files. Victims are also instructed to contact the hackers by email. The amount of money to be payed is not specified in the note, so presumably if you email them, you will find out. We always advise against paying the hackers as that does not guarantee the decryption key. What you should do instead is delete KawaiiLocker Virus and not fund the criminals.
