About this infection
Astralsearch.com is a browser hijacker that you must have installed accidentally. It’s not a malicious computer threat so if you start seeing a weird site loading every time you open your browser, there is no need to worry too much. As long as you deal with the hijacker quickly, you will be okay. It will change your browser’s settings without permission and possibly try to redirect you to sponsored sites.
Those redirects would usually lead to sponsored content but in some cases, you could be taken to some malicious website and end up with a malware infection. So while the hijacker itself is not malicious, it could lead to a serious infection. The hijacker will not benefit you in any way so there is no reason why you should keep it. Delete Astralsearch.com
Hijacker distribution methods
The hijacker needs your permission to enter your computer but you are not aware you are giving it most of the time. These kinds of threats are attached to free software as additional offers and you need to deselect them. They are hidden and by not noticing them, thus not deselecting them, you are authorizing all extra offers to install. To prevent this, access Advanced or Custom settings instead of Default and uncheck the boxes that appear there. Make sure you deselect everything because otherwise you will be allowing some questionable program to enter your computer. And it’s much harder to uninstall Astralsearch.com than unchecking a few boxes.
Why remove Astralsearch.com?
The hijacker will change your browser’s settings without permission and you will open your browser one day and see that some weird site loads as the homepage. This is typical browser hijacker behavior and those changes will be irreversible unless you first delete Astralsearch.com. Until you do so, every time you open Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, the browser’s promoted page will load. Browser hijackers aim to lead users to sponsored websites because that is how they generate income. They usually do it via search engine. The provided search engine on your new homepage may be inserting sponsored content into the results and you could be redirected to all kinds of websites if you click on those links. Do be careful as you could be redirected to malicious sites. Hijackers do not go through the websites they will redirect you to in order to make sure they are safe. So you could end up with some kind of malware. We strongly suggest you do not ignore the problem and proceed to uninstall Astralsearch.com as quickly as possible.
Astralsearch.com removal
As is usual with hijackers, you have two options when it comes to Astralsearch.com removal. If you are struggling, obtain anti-spyware software and have it remove Astralsearch.com for you.
