Is this a serious infection?

Mysrch.net is highly questionable search engine, promoted by a browser hijacker. Browser hijacker are these relatively minor infections that can install if users are inattentive during program installation processes. So if you have this hijacker, you need to learn to pay more attention to how you install programs.

Mysrch

Signs of a hijacker are pretty obvious, you will have changed browser’s settings, a site you do not recognize as your homepage, and weird redirects occurring while you browse. Even though it’s not a serious infection, some hijackers are able to redirect you to sponsored pages where malware could be lurking. So a mere hijacker infection could lead to a much more serious threat. We recommend you delete Mysrch.net as soon as possible because it will not bring anything good.

Avoiding hijackers in the future

You need to be more careful about how you install programs. Whenever you install programs, especially the ones you get from unsecure sources, you need to use Advanced or Custom settings. Free programs usually come together with added offers and they are only visible in those settings. If you go with Default, you will not notice anything, and everything added will be allowed to install. In Advanced, you will be able to check for those offers, and you will also be authorized to deselect everything. You should make sure you uncheck all the boxes because otherwise, you will end up with all kinds of unwanted programs. And it will save you loads of time because you will not have to uninstall Mysrch.net or something alike again.

Why remove Mysrch.net?

You will immediately notice when a hijacker has been installed. When you open your browser, whether it’s Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you will see that instead of the usual homepage, the hijacker’s promoted site loads. These changes will be carried out without your permission, and will be irreversible unless you first delete Mysrch.net fully. The site looks rather basic, it only has a search engine. There is also Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, which we suggest you read carefully. Using the search engine could turn out to be rather troublesome because you will encounter loads of sponsored content in the results. The majority of results will have nothing to do with what you search for so there is no use in using the search engine. If you choose to use it, for whatever reason, be careful not to click on malicious results because you could end up with some kind of malware. This could lead to a serious malware infection. So we recommend you uninstall Mysrch.net.

The former might be difficult if you have little experience with computers because you would need to find the hijacker yourself. If you choose automatic Mysrch.net removal, obtain reliable anti-spyware software and have it take care of everything.
