What is Satan666?

Satan666 seems to be a new ransomware type of virus. As most ransomware, it’s likely using malicious email attachments to infect computers. All a user needs to do is open the infected attachment and the virus downloads onto the computer. Ransomware encrypts your files and then demands that you pay a certain amount of money. If you pay, supposedly your files would be restored. Supposedly being the key word here. When dealing with cyber criminals you can never be sure of whether they will carry out their promise. You could pay and the hackers might just take your money and not give you anything. While it’s not clear how much Satan666 ransomware wants, we recommend you think twice about paying. You should ignore all demands and delete Satan666 from your computer.

What does Satan666 do?

Most frequently, ransomware infects computers when users open malicious spam email attachments. All cyber criminals need to do is attach an infected file to an email and send it to users. Those kinds of emails usually end up in the spam folder even though they seem very official. The sender could be pretending to be from a legitimate company or a government organization to pressure users into opening the attachments. Before you open attachments sent by unknown senders, double check the contents and the sender. You can never be too careful when dealing with emails because you can never know what could be behind them. Getting infected by ransomware can have disastrous consequences so you must be careful.

Once Satan666 is on your computer, it will start encrypting your files. Everything can happen in a matter of minutes and users usually do not notice until it’s too late to do anything. Once the encryption process is complete, the victim will find a ransom note. In it, it will state that your files have been encrypted and that the developers have the decryption key you need to restore them. An email address (devilguy666@protonmail.com) will be given and you are asked to contact the creators of Satan666. It does not state how much you would need to pay but presumably, once you contact them, they will tell you. We don’t think you should contact them, or pay them. The cyber criminals are the ones who encrypted your files in the first place, what’s stopping them from just taking your money if you pay. Also, remember that you are essentially supporting their future projects. And you could fall victim for it again. This is why you should remove Satan666 instead. If you have backup, you can get your files from there. But you first need to delete Satan666.
