About this infection
Search.lakador.com is a not working website that is probably appearing on your computer because you have some browser hijacker installed. Browser hijackers are not serious infections but they are annoying to deal with. This particular one will change your browser’s settings and set a useless website as your homepage and new tabs. So basically, every time you open your browser, you will be redirected to a “Server not found” site. There is no need to worry about it too much but it’s important that you get rid of the hijacker right away. So delete Search.lakador.com hijacker. And from now on, pay more attention to how you install freeware because the hijacker was attached to one such program and you did not notice.
How do hijackers spread?
Browser hijackers are added to freeware as extra offers and are set to install alongside. To prevent them from doing that, you need to manually deselect them. This can be done in Advanced or Custom settings of the freeware installation process. Select those settings instead of Default and you will be able to see whether something has been added. If there is something, you will be able to deselect it/them. And make sure that you do. Those items are hidden there for a reason, and they do not belong on your system. Unchecking a few boxes takes much less time than having to uninstall Search.lakador.com so you would be saving a lot of time by preventing installations from the very beginning.
Should you remove Search.lakador.com?
The hijacker will take over all popular browsers you have installed, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, so you will have the not working website loading on all of them. That is because the hijacker will set it as your homepage and new tabs. And to be able to change the settings back you will first have to delete Search.lakador.com. Presumably, if the website worked, it would be offering you to use its search engine. This is typical browser hijacker behavior. Those search engines insert advertisement content into the results and then try to redirect to sponsored websites. Hijackers exist to generate income for those sponsored sites but they do not ensure that they are safe, which means you could end up on a malicious page where malware may be lurking. Seeing as the website does not work, it will probably not cause any issues but you still need to get rid of it. Uninstall Search.lakador.com as soon as possible.
Since it’s a useless website, there are no reasons why you should not remove Search.lakador.com. You have two ways to do it. You can do it via anti-spyware software, and that would be an easier method because your chosen program would do everything. If you pick manual Search.lakador.com removal, you will need to find the hijacker yourself, and that may take a long time.
