What is TechAgent?

TechAgent is classified as a potentially unwanted and an ad-supported application. It may be promoted as a technical support tool, but its real aim has nothing to do with helping you with your computer issues. The program travels online in freeware and shareware bundles. It often gets installed without the user’s permission. After the installation is complete, the app starts to flood your browsers with advertisements, it may also slow down your system, track your cookies, and cause other inconveniences. There is no reason why you should tolerate its actions. We suggest that you delete TechAgent as soon as you can.

How does TechAgent work?

As we have already mentioned, the adware uses the bundling distribution method. What this means is that it gets attached to free software and appears as an optional offer in its installation wizard. The trouble is that this offer is pre-selected, so unless you notice and decline, the unwanted program gets installed onto your PC without your permission. Make sure that never happens. Always install software in the Advanced or Custom mode, so that you can see all additional offers that come with freeware and decline them.

TechAgent functions in a similar manner to 24×7 Help, RealTimeLeads, Counterflix, and some other apps that fall into the category of adware. All of these programs are promoted as useful utilities, but they are all used to make profit for their creators. TechAgent not only collects information about your browsing and slows down your computer’s speed, but it also inserts various adverts into your browsers, not all of which are even safe. Each time you click on the ads, the developers of the unwanted application make profit. The advertising content not only disrupts your browsing, but also exposes you to online scams. You should not take any unnecessary risks, which is why we advise that you avoid all ads until you get rid of TechAgent for good.
