About this PUP

System Optimizer Pro is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that is promoted as a system optimizer. These kinds of PUPs are quite common, and they all usually pretend to be useful security tools. However, all they want from you is money. Once the program is installed, which usually happens accidentally, a scan will be performed on your computer, and hundreds of issues will be found.

System Optimizer Pro

It offers you to clean the device but if you want to do it, you need to buy the full version, which is definitely not worth the price. Essentially, it’s a scam. In general, system optimizers are a debatable topic as some security researchers believe they don’t really do anything but get rid of a few insignificant files. In any case, there is no reason why you should keep the PUP. Uninstall System Optimizer Pro.

How did it end up on my computer?

If you don’t remember installing it, then it must have been added to some freeware that you installed. This is not unusual for PUPs, and that’s why you need to be vigilant when you install programs. During installation, choose Advanced or Custom settings, and if there is anything added, it will become visible there. If something is added, make sure you deselect it/them. Do not allow any of those items to install. If they do not ask for your explicit permission to install, they have no place on your computer. If you want to avoid having to delete System Optimizer Pro or similar over and over again, you need to always use Advanced.

Why remove System Optimizer Pro?

Whether you got it yourself or not, the moment it enters your computer, it will perform a scan on your computer. The scan will show you tens or even hundreds of warnings about some kind of issues. The programs will claim that those issues are slowing down the computer and that you need to solve them. If you choose to use the program, you will be asked to buy the full version. That is not something we recommend you do because it’s simply not worth it. Those supposedly serious issues could just be old registry entries, and they’re not affecting your device at all. They’re just leftovers from programs you uninstalled. These kinds of programs tend to show large number of problems so that users are intimidated into buying the software. And if you really need to a system optimizer, you can get a reliable one for free. Just uninstall System Optimizer Pro.
