Facebook users across multiple countries experienced service disruptions after an outage affected the platform and several business tools operated by Meta Platforms, according to reports from outage monitoring services and the company’s own status updates.

The incident began shortly after 4 p.m. Eastern Time, when users started reporting problems accessing Facebook. Data from the monitoring site Downdetector showed more than 11,000 reports in the United States at the peak of the outage. Users in several other countries, including Canada, Brazil, Pakistan, Poland, Italy, and the United Kingdom, also reported issues during the same period.

Many users attempting to access the platform encountered an error message stating that their account was “temporarily unavailable due to a site issue.” Others reported that Facebook’s website was slow to load or that they were unable to log in to their accounts. Reports indicated that the mobile application continued to work for some users but was slower than normal.

The disruption extended beyond the social network itself. Meta’s status page indicated that Facebook Ads Manager, a platform used by businesses to create and manage advertising campaigns across Facebook and Instagram, experienced high levels of disruption starting shortly before 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Ads Manager is widely used by companies and marketers to manage advertising budgets, analyze campaign performance, and publish advertisements on Meta’s platforms. The outage, therefore, affected users who rely on the system to monitor or launch marketing campaigns.

The status page also showed disruptions affecting other tools connected to business services, including features used by organizations that manage customer communications and advertising through Meta’s ecosystem.

By the evening, the number of outage reports had begun to decline, indicating that access to the platform was gradually returning for many users. Data from Downdetector showed reports dropping to roughly 1,200 by around 6:11 p.m. Eastern Time.

Meta did not immediately provide a detailed explanation for the cause of the outage. The company has experienced similar disruptions in the past that temporarily affected its social media services and business tools, which were resolved.

The company’s platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and related advertising services, are used by individuals and businesses worldwide. Temporary disruptions can affect both personal communication and the operation of advertising campaigns that depend on the platform’s management tools.
