Boost.ur-search.com Removal

About this infection

Boost.ur-search.com is a browser hijacker that will change your browser’s settings if installed. If you find it on your computer, you must have recently installed free software and did not pay enough attention to notice that it had a hijacker attached. Hijackers are not malicious computer applications and will not harm your computer directly but some are able to expose users to malware.

They exist to redirect users to sponsored content but they do not filter through the sites you will be led to to make sure they are safe. So you could easily be directed to a malware-ridden page and might not even notice how malware enters your computer. In addition to this, your browser’s settings will be changed and you will be stuck with an unwanted website as your homepage. There is no need to put up with it, simply delete Boost.ur-search.com.

How do hijackers spread?

A browser hijacker travels together with free software in a way that is known as the bundling method. The hijacker is attached to freeware as an extra offer and it will install alongside, unless you prevent it. To do that, you need to manually deselect it during freeware installation. This can be done in Advanced or Custom settings. All you need to do is uncheck the extra offers that become visible there and you can then proceed to continue installing the freeware. If you choose to use Default settings, you will be allowing all added offers to install as those settings do not allow you to deselect anything.

Why remove Boost.ur-search.com?

The hijacker will provide you with a new homepage and a search engine. Judging from the URL, the website provided search engine supposedly boosts your searches but it actually does the exact opposite. It will insert loads of advertisements into the results, flooding your screen with sponsored content. The more of that content you press on, the more income the hijacker can generate. Some of those links could also be malicious so be careful to not enter infected sites. This could result in a malware infection. It should be mentioned that it affects all leading browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Once it has changed your browser’s settings and set its domain as your homepage, you will not be able to undo the alterations until you delete Boost.ur-search.com. The hijacker’s promoted website provides nothing useful and may be able to cause a malware infection. If you want to keep your computer secure, delete Boost.ur-search.com as soon as possible.

Boost.ur-search.com removal

While there are two ways to remove Boost.ur-search.com, you should choose the one best suiting your abilities. If you go with manual Boost.ur-search.com removal, you will need to find where the hijacker is hiding. This might take more time than you think because hijackers are hidden. You can also uninstall Boost.ur-search.com using anti-spyware software and that may be the quicker option.
