How to remove Ezy-search.com

What is this threat

Ezy-search.com is a browser hijacker promoted website that would be set as your homepage if you have said hijacker installed. These unwanted installations happen when users carelessly install free software and do not make sure nothing has been added to the program.

And freeware programs do not properly disclose such information so it’s up to the user to find out. While hijackers are not malicious, they do not belong on the computer because they make changes without permission and try to redirect users to sponsored content. In some cases, hijackers can also redirect you to malicious sites and you might end up with a serious malware infection on your system. The hijacker also collects information about you and your browsing habits, and could then share it with third-parties. We suggest you delete Ezy-search.com.

Why uninstall Ezy-search.com?

You will notice the infection right away because your browser’s settings will be changed without permission. The alterations will affect all leading browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox and you will be unable to undo them unless you first remove Ezy-search.com, which you should do anyway. Your homepage and new tabs will be set to the hijacker’s advertised site, and you will see a search engine, as well as links to popular sites, such as Facebook, YouTube and eBay. Using the search engine is not recommended because you may encounter sponsored content. Hijackers aim to redirect because that is how they generate income. You should be careful to not get led to some malicious site where malware could be lurking. Reading the Privacy Policy is also recommended to understand whether data about you will be collected and if it will be shared with third parties. You should not trust it and we recommend you delete Ezy-search.com.

How does the hijacker spread?

Browser hijackers spread with the help of freeware bundles. They are attached to free software as extra offers and you need to deselect them to prevent their installation. To do this, access Advanced or Custom settings when installing programs and see if any added items appear. If you see something, make sure you uncheck the boxes. This will prevent those extra offers from installing. If you do not uncheck the boxes in the beginning, do not be surprised if you end up having to uninstall Ezy-search.com or similar over and over again.
