How to remove Ourcoolspot.com

What is Ourcoolspot.com

Ourcoolspot.com is a questionable website that’s pushing a social engineering scam that tries to trick users into agreeing to see ads. When you get redirected to Ourcoolspot.com, a browser pop-up will appear and say that “Ourcoolspot.com wants to show notifications”. The site will also display a loading bar and claim that you need to click “Allow” on the pop-up to continue to the site. If you press “Allow”, the site will be able to show you notifications, aka ads, even on your desktop.

If you have pressed “Allow” on the pop-up and allowed Ourcoolspot.com to show notifications, you will start seeing ads on your desktop. Don’t interact with them as they could lead to a serious malware infection. Some of those ads could be purposely made to appear like they’re system notifications, as they even appear at a similar place. You could easily end up confusing the two, which could lead to you downloading malware disguised as some kind of update. You should revoke the site’s permission to show you notifications, and we will explain how to do that at the very end of the report.

Scammers have started pushing this attack quite often recently, with likely thousands of these kinds of websites out there. You don’t end up these sites for no reason, you’re either redirected by adware or by the site you were visiting. If your computer is infected with adware and that’s what’s causing the issues, you will need to get rid of it to remove Ourcoolspot.com redirects. It’s usually easiest to get rid of adware using anti-virus software.

Adware could be installed on your computer if you’re redirected to Ourcoolspot.com constantly

Depending on when the redirects happen and how often, you can determine whether you’re dealing with adware. If you were visiting a high-risk site (such as one hosting pornography or pirated content) and something you clicked on triggered the redirect, it’s probably the site that’s to blame for you being redirected. Having adblocker installed could help prevent the redirects from appearing, or at least close the pop-up windows as they open.

If adware is installed, you would be redirected randomly, even when visiting legitimate sites. It would also happen multiple times. Adware isn’t a particularly dangerous infections, and usually installs unnoticed via software bundling. Software bundling essentially means attaching additional offers to programs. In many cases, those offers are adware, browser hijackers and potentially unwanted programs. They are technically optional but because many users rush program installations, they do not notice them and thus, are unable to deselect them. To correctly install freeware, you need to opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when given the option during installation. Those settings will display all added offers and you will be able to deselect all of them. Once you uncheck all offers, you can continue installing the program.

Ourcoolspot.com removal

If you have an anti-virus program, use it to delete Ourcoolspot.com adware. That would be easiest because the program would take care of everything.
