Petya+ Ransomware Virus Unlock

What is Petya+ Locker Virus

Petya+ is a new ransomware type of virus that encrypts files. Petya+ Locker seems to still be underdevelopment and does not demand any money from the victims. It just encrypts your files, and there is no way to get them back. When the files are encrypted, a message will appear saying that your files have been encrypted, with no emails or other means of contact. Fans of the hit TV show Mr.Robot will recognize the name and the logo in the message, which makes one think that the creators are fans of the show. Currently, the only way to infect your computer with Petya+ is through spam emails. While there is no way to get the files back, we advise you to remove Petya+ virus as soon as possible.

How did Petya+ get on my computer

At the time of this article, the only way to get the Petya+ ransomware is through spam email. That does not mean you should not be careful when installing software or downloading something. The way distribution via email works is you get an email with an attachment from a unknown person, and not realizing that you are putting your computer at risk, you open the attachment. If the file contains Petya+, it will download onto your computer and start encrypting files. Once the files are encrypted, there is no way to restore them. The only thing you can do is remove Petya+.

What can Petya+ do

Like most ransomware, Petya+ will encrypt your files. Unlike most ransomware, it will not demand money in exchange for a decryption key. When it gets on your computer, it will start encrypting files. A message will then pop up saying your files have been encrypted. Like mentioned before, Petya+ does not demand a ransom and there is no email displayed on the message. Even if there was, we would strongly encourage you not to contact the hackers. Thankfully, if Petya+ infects your computer, it will only encrypt a couple of files. The bad news is, there is no way to restore them. If Petya+ develops into a bigger problem and starts demanding money form victims, there might be a decryption key developed but until then, all you can do is delete Petya+ ransomware from your computer.

How to uninstall Petya+

Unfortunately, there is no way to restore the encrypted files. But what you can do is terminate Petya+. Petya+ removal can be done both manually and automatically, but we strongly advise you to choose anti-malware software to delete Petya+. Trying to get rid of Petya+ manually can do harm to the computer if the user is inexperienced.
