Remove My Forms Finder

About this browser extension

My Forms Finder is a questionable browser extension, developed MyWay, a known developer of potentially unwanted programs (PUPs). The extension can also be classified as a PUP, or more specifically a browser hijacker. It intends to help people find various forms online, but it also hijacks browsers, and makes changes without permission. It will set its promoted website as your homepage and try to redirect you to sponsored web pages. Browser hijackers aren’t malicious infections so there is no need to worry about it doing serious harm to your computer. Nevertheless, hijackers are not harmless. They can redirect you to malicious websites, which could allow a serious infection to enter your device. So if you want to avoid that, do not keep hijackers.

You may have downloaded this extension via official website, but it’s also possible, it may have entered via freeware bundles. It could have been attached to some freeware you installed, and you did not notice. This is not uncommon because those attached items are hidden. If you did not install it, you need to remove My Forms Finder from your device.

How did it install?

Hijackers often spread via freeware bundles. They are attached to legitimate programs in a way that allows them to install alongside without the user even knowing. You simply need to deselect them to prevent them from installing. To be given this option, pay attention to how you install programs and opt for Advanced (Custom) settings. Those settings will allow you to view everything that has been attached, as well as deselect the offers you do not want. After you have unchecked the offers, you can continue installing the program.

Should you delete My Forms Finder?

Whether you choose to keep this extension or not is up to you, but we would not recommend keeping any questionable extensions installed, particularly if you did not install them knowingly. This hijacker will change your browser’s settings (whether you’re using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox) and set you a new homepage. On your new homepage, there will be links to various forms, shortcuts to popular websites such as Gmail, Yahoo, Facebook, etc. There will also be a search engine provided. The search engine is enhanced by Google, which means the extension will be able to insert sponsored content into the results. Hijackers aim to redirect you to certain websites, whose owners aim to get as much revenue as possible. Some of those redirects could even lead you to websites that have malware on them.

Browser hijackers also collect certain kind of information about users, including websites visited and search queries. Even if it should not have access to your personal information, it would still share other gathered data with third-parties, who would use it for their own purposes.
