Remove Obeyter.com

Why are you seeing advertisements?

Redirects leading to Obeyter.com are probably caused by adware, a relatively minor infection. It should be noted that Obeyter is a legitimate advertising platform that adware creators use to make revenue for themselves. Adware will start generating ads as soon as it enters your computer, and the longer it stays installed, the more customized the ads will be. If you’re confused about how it installed, it was attached as an extra offer to some program you installed. Because you failed to deselect it during installation, it was allowed to install alongside.

You will also experience redirects to various websites, with possibly unreliable content on them. This kind of behavior not only disrupts your browsing but also potentially endangers your computer as your could end up on a malware-ridden website. This is why you should uninstall Obeyter.com adware as soon as you notice it.

How to not install adware

If you want to avoid getting adware or other similar infections like a browser hijacker, you need to pay attention to how you install programs. Adware comes attached to freeware, and you need to manually stop it from installing. This can be done during the freeware setup process. Pick Advanced (Custom) settings when the option is available, and uncheck the boxes of all the offers. If you don’t uncheck the boxes, it’s like giving those offers the permission to install. Default settings will not even show them, so if Advanced is available always opt for it. Deselecting a few boxes takes very little time and effort, compared to having to deal with adware and hijackers once they are already installed.

What does the adware do?

You probably already noticed, but the main intention of adware is to expose you to as many ads as possible. They will appear no matter which browser you are using, whether it’s Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, and the redirects will happen randomly. This will severely interrupt your browsing, constantly forcing you to close windows. The amount of ads might also slow down your browser, making it sluggish. You could encounter all kinds of advertisements, from ones offering products to ones suggesting you install software or an update. The latter could easily lead to a malware infection, so you need to be careful. Never download anything from pop-ups, banners or any other kinds of advertisements. And if you’re offered an update via an ad, do not expect it to be legitimate. If a program you have installed needs to be updated, the program will inform you, and never via ad. And if you want to download a program, only use legitimate sources.

You will also notice that ads will become increasingly more relevant to you. That is because the adware is collecting information about you and your browsing activities, aiming to display you content you would be more likely to click on. A questionable program shouldn’t have any kind of access to information about you, and that is one of the reasons why you need to remove Obeyter.com adware.
