Remove Saerch.net Redirect Virus

What is this infection?

Saerch.net is a browser hijacker, which probably installed onto your computer via freeware bundles. You might not have even noticed and that would not be unusual because hijackers are hidden. We will explain how to prevent such unwanted installations later on in this article. Hijackers are not malicious computer infections and no need to worry about it severely damaging your computer.

The worse it will do by itself is change your browser’s settings and set a weird site as your homepage and new tabs. Otherwise, it will not harm your computer directly. However, the search engine that will be provided on the homepage may insert sponsored content into the results and try to redirect you to weird or even malicious sites. There is nothing useful about this hijacker, and seeing as it entered your computer without permission, you need to delete Saerch.net.

Why do you need to uninstall Saerch.net?

The website promoted by the browser hijacker will become your homepage and new tabs on all leading browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Once these changes have been implemented, you will have to remove Saerch.net first to be able to change them. Your new homepage will have links to popular websites like Facebook, YouTube, etc., as well as a search engine. If you were to use the provided search box, or if you carried out a search via browser address bar, you most like would be exposed to sponsored content. Browser hijackers exist to redirect you and in order to do that they put links into search results. The biggest problem with that is that hijackers do not differentiate between safe and infected sites so you could be led to a malware-ridden web page and accidentally download malware. If you want to avoid a possibly serious infection, delete Saerch.net hijacker.

How does the hijacker spread?

Browser hijackers use the bundling method to spread, and what that means is that they are attached to freeware as extra offers. In order to stop them from installing, you need to manually deselect them. This is done in Advanced or Custom settings of the freeware installation process. Added items will become visible there and you will be allowed to uncheck them. Make sure that you deselect all extra offers so that you do not end up having to uninstall Saerch.net or similar again. Refrain from using Default settings because they will not show you anything.

Saerch.net removal

You have two ways to remove Saerch.net, manually and automatically. The latter might be easier if you have little experience when it comes to dealing with hijackers. The anti-spyware software would find the hijacker and take care of everything for you. Manual Saerch.net removal might take more time as you will have to find it yourself. But you are welcome to use the provided guide below this article to help you.
