Remove Safeforsearch.net Virus

About this hijacker

Safeforsearch.net is a website promoted by a browser hijacker. It may suddenly start loading instead of your usual homepage and that means you’ve caught a browser hijacker infection. It’s not very serious, although irritating to deal with. Your browser’s settings will be changed and you will have a weird site set as your homepage.

The hijacker might then try to redirect you, as that is how they usually behave. Some hijackers can also lead to unreliable websites where malware could be lurking. If you are not careful, you will end up with some kind of malware infection and that would be a much more serious issue. You need to uninstall Safeforsearch.net before it can bring about some serious issues. And pay closer attention to how you install freeware from now on, so that you do not accidentally install a hijacker again.

Hijacker distribution

Browser hijackers are added to free programs as those additional offers that you need to deselect. Those items are hidden during installation so you need to access Advanced or Custom to be able to see them. Those settings will also allow you to deselect everything. So if something is added to the program you are installing, all you need to do is deselect it/them. Only after you have deselected every single added item, should you proceed to install the freeware.

Why remove Safeforsearch.net?

You will notice the hijacker infection as soon as you open your browser because its settings will be changed. A site, different from your usual homepage, will greet you ever time you open the browser. Your default search engine will also be changed. These changes will affect all popular browsers, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Before you go try to change the settings back, we can say that there’s not much use in that. Unless you first delete Safeforsearch.net, you will not be able to undo any of the changes that it performs. Your new homepage will advertise a search engine that supposedly makes the searches more secure but you should never trust a website that appears so out of the blue. If you use the search engine, be careful to not click on any of the sponsored results. Certain websites employ hijackers to generate traffic for them, so you could be redirected to all kinds of pages. You should also know that some hijackers can lead to malicious sites. So if you want to avoid a possible malware infection, you need to uninstall Safeforsearch.net. And we suggest you do it as soon as possible.
