Remove Scroll Memory Extension

About this extension

Scroll Memory Extension is advertised as a useful add-on that will supposedly remember the “sroll” position of the page. It behaves more like a browser hijacker than a useful extension so best avoid it. It will change your browser’s settings so that you have a different search engine, and will not allow you to undo the changes. It’s available for download on the Chrome Store, but the grammatical mistakes in the decryption make it rather questionable.

You could have also been fooled into installing it, and we will explain this in a later paragraph. There are plenty of more reliable extensions that do the same thing, so we recommend you delete Scroll Memory Extension. And be more careful about what you allow to install onto your computer.

Why remove Scroll Memory Extension?

If you do not remember installing it yourself, it could have been forced upon you. It’s been noticed that it spreads via false advertisements. You must have gotten a pop-up claiming that in order for your browser to continue working properly, you need to install an extension. It does not state what kind of extension it is or what it does, which automatically makes it bogus. For one, Chrome will never ask you to install something in this way. When you deal with the pop-up, you are given an ‘OK’ and a ‘Cancel’ option but you should not press on either of them, and instead, just close the browser. Never install anything when it’s promoted this way. If you need some extension or program, use legitimate websites/stores.

The extension supposedly saves the scroll position on the page you are reading so that you can come back to it later and not wonder where you left off. This may seem like a useful extension but it’s hiding its true purpose. It will only work on Google Chrome and will change the browser’s search engine, so that every time you search for something, you would be redirected to bvsearch.com, then to bigsearches.com and finally, to yahoo.com. This will happen whenever you search for something via the browser address bar, and until you uninstall Scroll Memory Extension and change the settings back. If you wanted to use Yahoo, you could just go there directly. There is no need to use some suspicious third-party website to end up there. And if you didn’t even install the extension knowingly, you should not put up with this kind of behavior. Just delete Scroll Memory Extension.
