Remove Search.anysearch.net

About this infection

Search.anysearch.net is a dubious website, promoted by a hijacker targeting Mac users. It’s not a high-level threat and it usually can enter computers via software bundles. This happens when users do not pay sufficient attention to how they’re installing free programs. We will explain how to avoid these installations in the next paragraph so make sure you read it careful and take our advice into account.

The hijacker will change your browser’s settings and set a weird site as your homepage and new tabs without permission. Using the provided website is not recommended because the hijacker might try to redirect you to sponsored sites so that it could generate income. In some cases, those redirects could lead to malicious sites where malware could be encountered. We recommend that you delete Search.anysearch.net hijacker.

How does the hijacker infect a computer?

You allow hijackers to install yourself. They are attached to free software as extra offers and to avoid them, you need to deselect them. This can be easily done by unchecking the boxes of all extra offers in Advanced or Custom settings. Choose those settings when installing freeware, and make sure you deselect everything. Avoid using Default because those settings will not show you anything. If you want to avoid having to remove Search.anysearch.net or similar, make sure to always deselect everything that has been added.

Why uninstall Search.anysearch.net?

The hijacker will alter your browser’s settings and set its promoted website as your homepage and new tabs. These changes will come out of the blue and without your permission, just like the hijacker itself. Once the changes have been implemented, they are irreversible unless you first delete Search.anysearch.net. And you should not put up with the changes because the hijacker will set a dubious website as your homepage and new tabs. Your default search engine will also be changed. The search engine may be inserting sponsored sites into your results so that you would be redirected. More traffic for a website means more money for site owners. You could also be redirected to malicious sites and end up downloading some kind of malware. This could lead to a much more serious infection. Delete Search.anysearch.net hijacker.
