What is Search Query Router?

Search Query Router is a browser hijacker that enters your computer via software bundles. It is not malicious in the sense that it will not directly harm your computer, as that is not its intention. However, what it will do is, it will alter your browser’s settings and possibly attempt to redirect you to sponsored websites. Most browser hijackers exists for the purpose of generating traffic and making pay-per-click revenue for sponsored web pages. Why should you delete Search Query Router?

You are probably wondering how you managed to pick up this hijacker, it happened because you were not paying enough attention to how you installed free software. Essentially, most free software has additional items attached to. It is referred to as the bundling method. Right-click in the lower left corner of the screen. Once Quick Access Menu shows up, select Control Panel choose Programs and Features and select to Uninstall a software.

Uninstall Search Query Router from Windows 7

Click Start → Control Panel → Programs and Features → Uninstall a program.

Delete Search Query Router from Windows XP

Click Start → Settings → Control Panel. Locate and click → Add or Remove Programs.

Remove Search Query Router from Mac OS X

Click Go button at the top left of the screen and select Applications. Select applications folder and look for Search Query Router or any other suspicious software. Now right click on every of such entries and select Move to Trash, then right click the Trash icon and select Empty Trash.

Step 2. Delete Search Query Router from your browsers

Terminate the unwanted extensions from Internet Explorer
  1. Tap the Gear icon and go to Manage Add-ons.
  2. Pick Toolbars and Extensions and eliminate all suspicious entries (other than Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Oracle or Adobe)
  3. Leave the window.
Change Internet Explorer homepage if it was changed by virus:

  1. Click the Gear icon and move to Internet Options.
  2. Open the Advanced tab and press Reset.
  3. Choose Delete personal settings and pick Reset one more time.
  4. Tap Close and leave your browser.
  5. If you were unable to reset your browsers, employ a reputable anti-malware and scan your entire computer with it.
Erase Search Query Router from Google Chrome
  1. Access menu (top right corner of the window) and pick Settings.
  2. Choose Extensions.

  2. Open menu and navigate to Settings.
  3. Press Reset button at the end of the page.
  4. Tap Reset button one more time in the confirmation box.
  5. If you cannot reset the settings, purchase a legitimate anti-malware and scan your PC.
Remove Search Query Router from Mozilla Firefox
  1. In the top right corner of the screen, press menu and choose Add-ons (or tap Ctrl+Shift+A simultaneously).
  2. Move to Extensions and Add-ons list and uninstall all suspicious and unknown entries.
Change Mozilla Firefox homepage if it was changed by virus:
  1. Tap on the menu (top right corner), choose Options.
  2. On General tab delete malicious URL and enter preferable website or click Restore to default.
  3. Press OK to save these changes.
Reset your browser
  1. Open the menu and tap Help button.
  2. Select Troubleshooting Information.
  3. Press Refresh Firefox.
  4. In the confirmation box, click Refresh Firefox once more.
  5. If you are unable to reset Mozilla Firefox, scan your entire computer with a trustworthy anti-malware.
Uninstall Search Query Router from Safari (Mac OS X)
  1. Access the menu.
  2. Pick Preferences.
  3. Go to the Extensions Tab.
  4. Tap the Uninstall button next to the undesirable Search Query Router and get rid of all the other unknown entries as well. If you are unsure whether the extension is reliable or not, simply uncheck the Enable box in order to disable it temporarily.
  5. Restart Safari.
