Remove TROTUX virus

What is Trotux?

Although Trotux may sound like a good new tab page and search tool to have as it is promoted as a helpful extension, it does not differ much from any other browser hijacker. It usually enters computers through freeware and shareware bundles. The hijacker alters your browser settings and causes other modifications that are connected to it as well, even though it may not seem that way at first. All of your web browsers will be affected as the hijacker is compatible with all major browsers. We suggest that you get rid of Trotux without further delay.

How does Trotux work?

As we have already mentioned, the hijacker spreads on the Internet through free third party software. This means that it gets access to your system through freeware that you install onto your PC without paying attention to the installation wizard. Every time you install free software, you need to make sure that you decline all additional offers presented to you. In most cases, these offers are useless programs aimed at monetizing the free programs. It would be best to avoid these programs in the future. You can do that by always installing software in the Advanced mode and deselecting all unnecessary components from the wizard.

Once inside, the hijacker takes over your browsers right away. It switches your home page, new tab, and default search engine to Trotux. The website presents you with a search box and quick access buttons. If you enter a query into the box, you will not get the most relevant results as they will include sponsored links. You should also keep in mind that the hijacker will expose you to various advertisements, not all of which will be safe. Clicking on these ads may lead to serious consequences including malware infections, money losses, etc. In order to avoid these troubling outcomes, you should erase Trotux from your browsers.

How to remove Trotux?

There are two possible solutions to Trotux removal: you can delete the hijacker manually or automatically. If you choose to terminate Trotux manually, you will have to uninstall its related application and fix your browser settings yourself. Instructions below can help you with these tasks. If, on the other hand, you decide to go with the more reliable option, i.e. automatic removal, you will have to use an anti-malware tool. The malware remover available on our page can not only eliminate Trotux, but also clean your system from other potential threats. Moreover, the utility will stay useful to you even after you delete Trotux by providing your PC with online protection in real time.
