Revolut is experiencing a widespread service outage that has prevented customers in multiple countries from accessing their accounts, making payments, and withdrawing cash. The disruption began on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and has affected several core banking functions, leaving users uncertain about when normal operations will resume.

Customers across Europe and other regions have reported difficulties opening the Revolut application, with some encountering error messages during login attempts. Others have been unable to complete bank transfers, make card payments or withdraw money from ATMs, creating problems for people relying on the service for everyday transactions.

Revolut acknowledged the incident, confirming that multiple services were unavailable or operating with limited functionality. The company said its teams were working to resolve the disruption and apologized to affected customers, while emphasizing that their money and personal data remained safe.

The outage appears to be connected to technical problems affecting Google Cloud infrastructure. On the same morning, Google reported elevated errors and intermittent network failures in its London-based europe-west2 region, where several cloud services experienced disruptions.

Reuters reported, citing a person familiar with the situation, that Revolut’s problems were linked to the Google Cloud incident. However, the companies have not yet provided a detailed technical explanation of the failure or established when all affected services will be fully restored.

The disruption has also raised concerns about the reliance of financial platforms on external cloud infrastructure. Problems affecting a major technology provider can interfere with essential banking operations, even when the financial institution’s own systems have not been directly targeted by attackers.

Separately, German bank ING reported technical difficulties preventing some customers from accessing its online banking platform and mobile application. It remains unclear whether those problems are connected to the same cloud infrastructure incident.

There is currently no indication that Revolut’s outage resulted from a cyberattack or involved unauthorized access to customer information. The incident is being treated as a service disruption rather than a confirmed security breach.

As the situation develops, Revolut customers may continue to experience intermittent failures across banking functions. The company and Google are investigating the problems, with the full extent of the disruption and the timetable for complete recovery still uncertain.
