Search.com – How to remove?

Search.com Removal Guide (Delete Search.com)

Search.com is a browser hijacker with a really simple name. You might think that it is a great tool for browsing because of its simplicity. Unfortunately, it is against any recommendations to use the services of this suspicious application. This browser hijacker is also classified as a PUP – a potentially unwanted program that no one wants to have, and not without a reason. The PUP is always spread in freeware and shareware bundles, and this is an indicator that there are literally no people who would just download it by themselves – it travels just like a virus (although it is not one).

The capabilities of the hijacker to usurp browsers are endless because it can take over any of your browsers. Even the browsers that are widely popular aren’t protected against this disastrous search engine. As soon as your system is infected by this intruder, you can expect lots of modifications to take place. For example, the home page, new tab window, and default search provider will be changed into the browser hijacker. Unfortunately, not only the options, but also your browsing experience will suffer because of this invader.

Why is Search.com dangerous?

You are strongly advised to remove Search.com as soon as you get the chance. It is known that the results it displays are quite dangerous, and that’s why you should not use it, even though you need a search tool at the moment. It is better to take your time and erase Search.com before your next browsing session. You might have no idea how dangerous it is to press the sponsored links that are displayed to you by the browser hijacker. The sponsored links look like legitimate results, and that’s why they are so misleading. Clicking on one can end up in a disaster – you might find yourself stuck on a malicious page that is designed to actively infect your system with viruses. One more thing: there can be lots of advertisements on each site. The hijacker even replaces the ads that are original with some unreliable pop-ups. Lastly, your private and non-private information can certainly be collected and sold to third parties!

How did my computer get infected with Search.com?

The PUP is made to travel in free software bundles. These bundles are usually placed on file sharing pages like torrent. After you delete Search.com, try to stay away from such websites. Also, always click on the right installation mode (Advanced or Custom) so that you wouldn’t download some PUPs together with other software.
