WebunStop.net – How to remove?

About this infection

webunstop.net is a website promoting a dubious extension. The add-on that is advertised supposedly allows you to bypass geo-restrictions and access blocked content. The site itself will be blocked by your anti-malware software, as it is on the list of sites with potentially dangerous content.

If you are constantly redirected to that site, you may have an adware program installed. Adware infections are usually not serious and can be dealt with easily. However, if you do not delete webunstop.net right away, you could end up with a more serious infection. There is also nothing useful to be gained from adware, so you have no reason to keep it. It will merely try to get you to install a dubious extension. If you want to prevent these infection in the future, make sure you pay closer attention to how you install freeware, so that no unwanted programs can get past you.

How does adware infect a computer?

Adware is usually added to freeware as additional offers that you need to deselect. This can be done easily but because those offers are hidden, a lot of users end up installing them. Just choose Advanced or Custom settings the next time you install a program, and uncheck all the offers that appear. Only after you have deselected everything should you proceed to install the freeware. Do not use Default settings because they do not show any added offers, and they are allowed to install. If you do not want to end up having to remove webunstop.net adware or something similar later on, make sure you always use Advanced settings and uncheck everything.

What does it do?

The adware will start redirecting you the moment it enters your computer. The redirects will happen on all leading browsers you have installed, whether it’s Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. And they will not stop unless you first uninstall webunstop.net. You will be redirected to a site promoting an extension, and it may seem useful but you should not install it. When ads offer you some program, be very careful because you could end up with malware. And if you have anti-malware software, it will block access to the site as it may contain dangerous content. So you will be redirected to a blocked site all the time. The constant redirects might also slow down your computer and make your browser crash more often. The adware will bring nothing good to you so there is no reason why you should not delete webunstop.net.

webunstop.net removal

If you have anti-spyware software, use it to remove webunstop.net. Automatic webunstop.net removal should take less time because the program will do everything for you. If you try to manually uninstall webunstop.net, you will have to find the hijacker yourself, and that may take more time than you think.
