What’s the deal with these pop-ups?

Amazon Rewards Event pop-up ads are a scam, created with the intention of getting user personal information. They are likely caused by some kind of adware infection, or you could have been redirected when visiting a questionable website. You can differentiate between a one time attack and adware by the amount of pop-ups you see. If it appears even after you’ve closed it, you are likely dealing with adware. You could have picked it up when you were installing freeware, as it usually is attached to those kinds of programs. If you did not deselect it, it was allowed to install alongside the program. Amazon Rewards Event ScamIt’s not a malicious infection by itself, in the sense that it will not harm your computer directly. However, its generated ads are a different story. In this case, you will see pop-ups claiming you have been chosen to win a reward for you loyalty to Amazon. You are invited to spin the wheel to win prizes, such as an iPhone. If you do ‘win’ something, you would be asked to fill in your personal information. And then the prize would not come because this is a scam. If you get such pop-ups, close them, and delete Amazon Rewards Event Scam adware that could be inhabiting your computer.

What is causing them?

Like we said above, if you get numerous pop-ups, they could be caused by adware. If you’ve recently installed some free programs, that’s how you must have picked it up. Minor infections like adware and browser hijackers are attached to those programs in way that allows them to install alongside. To prevent these kinds of infections, you need to be more careful about how you install programs. Try to closely follow the process, and choose Advanced or Custom settings when available. Those settings will make added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect them. After you have unchecked all the boxes, you can continue with the program installation.

If it was not adware causing the pop-ups, you probably just got redirected when visiting some questionable website, like illegal streaming, adult-entertainment or betting sites. As long as you stick to secure sites, the ads should not appear.

Will you actually get your prize?

Considering all these kinds of ads are scams, you are not going to receive any kind of gift. The pop-up will claim that Amazon wants to thank you for your loyalty and is, thus, offering you a chance to win a prize by spinning the wheel. Obviously, Amazon has nothing to do with this, scammers are just trying to use a known name to trick users.

When you spin the wheel, you will definitely win something. You will then be asked to provide your personal information so that the prize could be shipped to you. That’s pretty logical, because how else are they going to send you your prize, you dont need online drop shipping coaching to realize that, but more computer-savvy people will immediately realize this is a scam because no one is going to give you anything for free, especially not via some ransom ad. If you scroll down, you could even see comments from other ‘winners’. Unfortunately, it’s not difficult to fake those comments, so trusting them would be naive. If you choose to give them your personal information, it could be used to scam your further. Or it may be sold to highly questionable parties.

In any case, just remember, no one will give you prizes this way. Such ads are always a scam.
