About this infection

Bam! is a ransomware type of malware that will leave your files encrypted if it manages to enter your computer. Infection usually happens when users open malicious email attachments or download something from an unsafe source. If you happen to get infected, your files are now encrypted and you are asked to pay a ransom to get them back.

YouTube Ransomware

Paying the ransom is not recommended as you are dealing with cyber criminals who might not feel obligated to fix your files after you have submitted the payment. It would not be the first time. You’re better off waiting for a free decryptor, which malware researchers might be able to provide. It may not be 100% possible but still beats paying the ransom that might not necessarily result in you getting your files back. Make sure you delete Bam! ransomware, instead of paying.

How does it spread?

You can very easily infect your computer and all you need to do is open a malicious email attachment or download the malware accidentally from an insecure source. Users are constantly warned about this and opening emails is an especially big problem. You should never open email attachments that you were not expecting and those coming from senders you do not recognize, unless you are 100% sure it’s safe. Even if the sender is pretending to be from Amazon or a government organization, always make sure it’s legitimate before opening it. Downloading programs from unreliable sources, such as Torrents, could also lead to an infection. If you are in need of something, use only legitimate/official websites. Otherwise, you will not only end up having to uninstall Bam! ransomware or similar but will also be stuck with encrypted files.

What does it do exactly?

The ransomware will encrypt your files as soon as it enters your system. It will affect all kinds of files, including pictures, videos, documents, etc. All encrypted files will have the .bam! extension. If you have noticed it, it’s already too late. Your files have been encrypted. It will change your desktop picture to a ransom note, in which the cyber crooks will explain what to do in order to get files back. You are asked to contact them using one of the provided emails, either abc@xyz.com or abc@xyz.com. If you were to do this, you would be asked to pay for some kind of tool that would supposedly decrypt files. We would not recommend trusting the criminals as it’s quite unlikely that they care what happens to your files. Instead of complying, remove Bam! ransomware. Backup would have saved you a lot of trouble as you could just delete Bam! ransomware and then recover files.

Bam! ransomware removal

While there are two ways to remove Bam! ransomware, we can only recommend one. Manual Bam! ransomware removal might be too difficult for you to carry out so do not attempt it. Instead, obtain anti-malware and allow it to uninstall Bam! ransomware for you.
