About this issue
EZupdater is an adware program that promotes itself as a useful computer security utility. Some users might get it from the official website but an accidental download would be more likely. It was probably attached to free software as an extra offer and you completely missed it during installations.
This is why thousands of users end up with all kinds of unwanted programs on their computers. Adware is not malicious, more annoying than anything, really. It will generate huge amounts of advertisements and fill your browser with them so that it could generate pay-per-click revenue. After a while, the ads will become more personalized because adware usually gathers certain information about users to make them more likely to click on ads. That is the last thing you should do. Adware does not filter through ads to make sure they are secure so you could easily be shown a malicious one and malware could infect your computer. Delete EZupdater ads.
How did you obtain the adware?
It is advertised as a legitimate security tool so you may have downloaded it from the official website, but we highly doubt that. It’s more possible that you got it when installing freeware. Adware, as well as other similar items, are attached to freeware in a way that allows them to install automatically alongside the freeware. To prevent them from doing so, simply choose Advanced or Custom settings during installation and uncheck the boxes of all extra offers. Proceed to install the freeware. Do not use Default settings because you will not be able to view or deselect anything and will end up having to uninstall EZupdater ads or similar again.
How does it act?
Adware aims to expose you to as many advertisements as possible because it earns income from clicks. It will generate a huge amount of ads to maximize the possibility of you clicking on them. They will appear on all browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, so switching browsers will be useless. You might tolerate the ads for a bit but they will quickly become very frustrating. And the only way to really stop them is to remove EZupdater ads causing adware. If you keep the adware installed long enough, you will notice that the ads are becoming more and more personalized. This is happening because the adware is collecting data about your browsing habits and using it to make adverts. You are more likely to click on those compared to the regular ones. Remember that some ads could be hosted on unsafe domains and by clicking on an adware generated ad you could end up with malware. If you want to return to normal browsing, simply delete EZupdater ads.
