About NavSmart

NavSmart is one of those irritating unwanted browser hijackers that change browser’s settings without permission. Browser hijackers are not malicious and they usually do not harm computers directly but are very aggravating to deal with. You can infect your computer when you install free software that has a hijacker attached to it. The hijacker is not plainly visible and if you miss it during installation, you will end up allowing it to install.

After the installation is complete, the hijacker will change settings and then try to redirect you to sponsored pages. This is not unusual since hijackers aim to direct traffic to sponsored pages and and generate income this way. The redirects are usually harmless and should not cause alarm but in extreme cases, you could be led to an infected site and possibly contaminate your computer with malware. To be sure that your computer is safe, we suggest you delete NavSmart.

How does NavSmart infect computers?

Hijackers need your permission to enter and users usually give it unknowingly. When installing freeware, it is important that users check for attached programs and if there is something, deselect it/them. During freeware installation, choose Advanced or Custom settings and everything that has been added will become visible there. Uncheck the boxes of those additional offers and that will be enough to prevent them from installing alongside the freeware. If you do not want to go through the trouble of having to remove NavSmart or similar later on, we strongly suggest you initially check for what has been added.

Why should you uninstall NavSmart?

NavSmart will take over your browsers the moment it installs onto your computer. It will make navsmart.info your homepage, new tabs and search engine on all popular browsers installed on your computer, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. And you will be stuck with the homepage until you delete NavSmart from the system. It does not look harmful and the provided search engine looks completely legitimate but if you use it, you will encounter sponsored content. This is how browser hijackers generate income. In order to lead you to sponsored pages, they insert links among legitimate search results. With every visit the site gets, the owners make money. This might seem pretty harmless but it should be noted that some hijackers could lead users to malicious pages where various kinds of malware could be lurking.
