Ads that are shown on it could lead to serious malware infections, and users without anti-malware would have no idea. There are many free content providers who use this service in order to support what they do so users usually click on them willingly. However, you may be redirected to the advertisement website without pressing on anything, in which case, it could be because your computer is infected with adware. If the redirects are happening constantly, it can be highly intrusive and annoying, so the adware will need to be dealt with right away. The infection could have been added to some kind of program that you installed, and you must have rushed the process, thus missed the added item. If it is indeed adware that is installed, you will need to remove Adf.ly.

How would adware infect my computer?

If you are dealing with adware, it must have been added to freeware as an extra offer. This is how users usually end up with these infections. If you want to avoid unwanted additional installations, pay attention to how you install programs. Always read all the information provided during the process, opt for Advanced or Custom settings, and deselect the added offers. They will only become visible in those settings, so always choose Advanced instead of Default. Otherwise, you will be allowing all kinds of unwanted programs to install. You should also look into a program prior to its installation. In some cases, adware is disguised as a seemingly useful program just so users would install it.

Is it dangerous?

The adware itself is not dangerous, however, the ads that are displayed could be. The Internet is full of users who complain that they got infected with malware when they pressed on the shortened URL. The redirects could be happening on all popular browsers you have installed, whether it’s Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If you are continually redirected, your browsing would be interrupted constantly, which can get annoying very quickly. If you press on the shortened link, you would be taken to a website where you will see advertisements and will have to wait a couple of seconds until you can proceed to enter the site you intended. When on the site, you should be careful of malware. You will encounter those bogus-looking ‘Download’ buttons, survey ads or one of those ‘you have won’ advertisements. Engaging with any of the ads while on the site is the last thing you should do. If you press the fake ‘Download’ button, you’ll probably end up downloading malware. If you give out your personal information in a survey or to supposedly win something, you’ll start getting more spam emails and even scam phone calls. When you are on the site, wait for ‘Skip ad’ or ‘Click here to continue’ to appear and do not click on anything else. And don’t forget to uninstall Adf.ly.

Adf.ly removal

If you want the redirects to stop, you will have to delete Adf.ly adware. You can do it in two ways, manually and automatically. The former might take more time because you would have to do everything yourself. However, below this report, you will find instructions to help you. If you would prefer the automatic method, you can obtain anti-spyware software and have it take care of everything for you.
