About this threat
Adrenya.ru is a questionable site, to which you may get redirected by a browser hijacker. The hijacker would set it as your homepage/new tabs without permission, and it would then try to redirect you to sponsored sites. Hijackers aren’t exactly malicious computer viruses, they’re more like pests that will continually interrupt your browsing.
Nevertheless, you need to remove Adrenya.ru. Because while the hijacker itself will not harm your computer, it may be able to lead to dangerous sites where malware could be lurking. This could lead to a serious infection. And in case you are wondering about how you managed to get the infection in the first place, you installed it yourself. It was added to freeware as an additional offer, and you must have missed it.
How do hijackers spread?
Browser hijackers are added to free programs as additional offers that you need to deselect. In order to do this, you need to access Advanced or Custom settings. Because most users opt for Default, they end up with all kinds of unwanted programs installed. In Advanced settings, you will see everything that has been added. Make sure to uncheck everything because those items are hidden there for a reason. If you want to avoid having to delete Adrenya.ru or similar, always deselect everything.
Why uninstall Adrenya.ru?
When the hijacker installs, it will change your browser’s settings so that the site is set as your homepage and new tabs. Those changes will affect all popular browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and will be irreversible unless you first remove Adrenya.ru. Hijackers perform these changes because they aim to redirect you to sponsored sites, and it’s easier to do it this way. There will be plenty of news articles on the site, and a search engine. We do not recommend engaging with either the articles and the search engine, as you could be exposed to all kinds of strange content. The search engine will lead to go.mail.ru where you might encounter sponsored sites in the results, which is why you should not use it. It would not be surprising if you started seeing more advertisements as well. They could be interrupting your normal browsing, and making your computer act sluggish. Information about your browsing habits could also be gathered so that it could make personalized adverts. There is nothing to be gained by keeping this hijacker installed, so delete Adrenya.ru.
There are two possible ways you can uninstall Adrenya.ru, manually and automatically. If you go with the former, you will have to find the hijacker yourself, which may take more time than your realize. If you struggle, automatic Adrenya.ru removal would be easier as the security program would do everything for you.
