What is JobCrypter?
JobCrypter is a ransomware infection that is aimed at computer users living in France. It is rather similar to other programs of the same type like CryptoWall, CTB-Locker, TeslaCrypt, UmbreCrypt, and more. The parasite spreads online through spam emails with malicious attachments. These emails may pretend to be about social or political events. They urge users to download a .zip file that actually contains the malware’s executable and a decryptor and installer named deobfuscated.exe. If users open the archive, they infect their PC. The harmful program then corrupts the data stored on the computer and demands that the user pay a ransom for it. We suggest that you get rid of JobCrypter as soon as you can.
How does JobCrypter work?
The ransomware infection is aimed at making profit for its creators by extorting money from you. That is why it encrypts your files right after its arrival. It can affect photos, videos, documents, presentations, and other important data that is stored on your local hard drives. The threat adds the .locked extension to all files that it corrupts. Once this process is complete, it adds text files containing instructions on how to regain access to the encrypted data to the folders with this data. In order to restore your files, the ransom note demands that you pay 300 euros. It also explains how you can make the payment using Paysafecard. The cyber crooks may also offer to decrypt one file as a “guarantee” that if you make the payment, you will actually recover the rest of them.
Unfortunately, when you deal with cyber crooks, there are no guarantees. If you do not want to waste your money and get nothing in return, we advise that you do not follow their instructions. What you should do instead is delete JobCrypter from your computer without further delay and try to restore your files yourself.
