Remove MediaGet2

Adware

What is MediaGet2?

MediaGet2 is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). It can get into your computer via software bundles and you would not even notice it being there. It’s not a malicious computer virus so it will not directly harm your computer. However, it will make certain unwanted changes to your browser and might prevent you from changing them back. It’s advertised as an application that can help you download torrent files quickly but it will be more annoying than useful. It will hijack your browser, insert ads everywhere you go and just disrupt your browsing in general. It could even expose you to unsafe content, which could lead to a malware infection. We suggest you uninstall MediaGet2.

Why should I remove MediaGet2?

If you did not install MediaGet2 yourself, it means it entered your computer sneakily, via free software. PUPs like MediaGet2 are attached to freeware as optional items but if you use Default settings, they install automatically and without your knowledge. This is why you need to pay attention to the installation processes and use Advanced settings. Those settings allow you to see and deselect all added items and you can proceed with the freeware installation without worrying about PUPs. It only takes seconds and will actually save you time later on when you do not need to delete MediaGet2 and other PUPs.

MediaGet2 might hijack your browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox) and alter its’ settings. Reportedly, your homepage, new tabs and search engine will be changed to yandex.ru, which is a Russian browser hijacker. Browser hijacker cause random redirects to sponsored websites and generate traffic. They’re not useful to users, they can even expose you to unsafe content and you could end up downloading malware onto your computer. MediaGet2 might also insert ads everywhere you go. You might start seeing great deals and coupons that don’t actually exist. Like browser hijacker caused redirects, ads are also used to generate traffic. We suggest you avoid all weird search results provided by yandex.ru and ignore all ads generated by MediaGet2. You can never know where you will end up and you could even be led to a questionable domain. This could lead to computer viruses. We advise you to terminate MediaGet2.
