About these threats
Myway hijackers come from family of browser hijackers that are developed by a company called Mindspark Interactive Network. The company is known to develop all kinds of potentially unwanted programs (PUP) as well as dubious search engines. Browser hijackers and PUPs are not dangerous computer infections but they should not be on your computer.
Hijackers change browser’s settings and proceed to redirect users to sponsored websites in order to generate income. Hijackers, including the Myway ones, can enter a computer without the knowledge of the user by attaching themselves to free software. If users do no uncheck those attached items, they install. Myway hijackers are also promoted by various PUP developed by Mindspark. The thing about hijackers is that they insert sponsored content into search results but it’s not always safe ones. Users could be led to malware-infected websites this way and could end up with malware on their computers. This is why we would recommend you always delete Myway hijacker if it finds its way onto your system.
How do users obtain hijackers?
Myway hijackers come together with certain PUPs that users can install themselves or ones that install without permission. They also travel separately via free software bundles. They are attached in a way that allows them to install alongside the freeware without you even noticing. In order to prevent these unnecessary installations, you need to manually deselect those offers. Simply access Advanced or Custom settings of the freeware installation process and you will see everything that has been added. If you do see something, just uncheck the boxes. Always use those settings instead of Default and you should be free of unwanted programs.
Why remove a Myway hijacker?
If you have a myway hijacker, your browser’s settings will have been changed without permission and you probably have hp.myway.com or search.myway.com set as your homepage, new tabs and search engine. These changes affect all leading browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox and are irreversible unless you uninstall Myway hijacker from the computer. Your new default search engine will insert advertisement content into the results so that you would be redirected to sponsored web pages and the hijackers could generate income this way. More traffic for those sites means more money for site owners. Be careful of malicious redirects because some hijackers can insert dangerous content into the results and you could be led to malware. You should not allow any of these threats to stay on your computer. Delete Myway hijacker.
