PUP.Optional.Reimage refers to a program Reimage, which is classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) by some security programs. This name is used by Malwarebytes so if a scan shows this in your results, you have Reimage installed. It’s not a malicious computer program but some security programs classify it as unwanted because of its dubious advertising and installation techniques. It does not have the best reputation. However, it’s important to know that it’s not going to harm your computer in any way. If you don’t remember installing it, it was attached as an extra offer to some program that you installed, and you did not notice. This quite common because those items are not visible at first. It’s up to you to decide whether to delete PUP.Optional.Reimage, although if you did not install it willingly, it’s not recommended to keep it.

How did it install?

Since it’s a legitimate program, you could have downloaded it yourself, from the official websites. Or it could have been added to some freeware that you installed. The program is supposed to help you keep your computer safe from malware but if it does not perform as it promises, there is no use in keeping it. It should be noted that the program does not come free. It will allow you to scan your computer but if you want it to fix something, you will need to obtain the paid version, which is currently €37 for a 1 year license. If you don’t intend to use, just remove PUP.Optional.Reimage.
