What is this malware?
Service_box.exe is a process that would appear in your Task Manager if you have a cryptocurrency mining Trojan installed. It’s not the most serious malware infection but the sooner you take care of it, the better. It won’t severely harm your computer but while it is installed, you will definitely notice. Mining Trojans use computer resources to mine for cryptocurrency, and that slows down the system severely. If you have it on your computer, programs may take longer to launch or crash, and your computer will act sluggish. If you check your Task Manager, you will notice weird process using a lot of your computer’s CPU, and that is the biggest sign that you are dealing with a miner. While it’s not very harmful to your computer, the main issue is that someone is using your computer to get cryptocurrency, and that should definitely not be allowed. You could also end up shortening your CPU’s lifespan is you allow the Trojan to remain. We don’t see any reasons why you should do that, so delete Service_box.exe. Instructions will be provided below this article.
You could have obtained it in a couple of ways, via spam email, by downloading from unreliable sources, or by visiting questionable websites. When it comes to spam emails, you need to be careful to not open attachments from senders you do not know. They could be hiding all kinds of malware, such as ransomware. If you open attachments left and right, you will end up with an infection that is much more serious. Check the sender carefully, if needed, scan the attachment, and stat away from emails in spam. They are there for a reason, and no important email will end up there. In addition to this, you should not download anything from dubious sources. Torrents, sites offering paid software for free, etc. They could easily be taken advantage to to host malware, so avoid them. Or at least make sure what you download is safe.
