About this infection

Sial.me is website that forces users to install a questionable Google Chrome extension. Redirects to this website might happen from questionable websites or via adware. If it’s the former, and you have encountered it only once or twice, it’s likely nothing to worry about. However, if you are constantly redirected to it, it could be caused by an adware infection.

If that is the case, you need to be more careful about how you install programs. Adware could have been attached to some freeware that you installed, and because you did not deselect it, it was allowed to install alongside. The adware itself is not a malicious infection but evidently, its generated ads and redirects might cause trouble. When you are redirected to the website, a pop-up would appear, asking you to install an extension. Do not install the extension because it could turn out to be malicious. Do not engage with the pop-up at all, because it could the trigger the download. Instead, just close your browser and delete Sial.me adware.

Why are you seeing the pop-ups?

The reason why the pop-ups are appearing could be adware. The infection was likely attached to some freeware that you installed. It was added in a way that allows it to install alongside the program, and to block it, you need to deselect it. These kinds of unwanted programs are why it’s important that you pay attention to how you install something. Read the provided information, follow the process carefully and always opt for Advanced or Custom settings. Those settings will allow you to check for added offers, and if there is something, you can deselect it/them. And you should. The items that are hidden will not benefit you in any way, they will merely cause trouble. Unless you want to constantly have to deal with unwanted programs, always pay attention to what kind of programs you install and how you do it.

If it’s adware that’s causing the redirects, they will happen regularly, primarily when you are using Google Chrome. They will interrupt your browsing constantly, which can get annoying pretty quickly. Even when you close one pop-up, others will open soon after. So if you want to fully stop the redirects, you will need to remove Sial.me adware. Until you do, you will have to put up with the redirects, but do not engage with them. They will prompt you to install an extension. A message will appear saying ‘Add Extension to Leave’, you might also be given options ‘Add extension’ or ‘Leave’. Do not press on anything because even if you select ‘Leave’, you would be triggering the download. Instead, close the tab. If that is not possible, close the browser. However, the adware might be preventing you from doing it so simply. If you are unable to close the browser by pressing the ‘X’, open Task Manager. Right click on the taskbar, and select Task Manager. Find the browser’s process, select it and press End task. If you choose to download the offered program, what you would be downloading is an unwanted Google Chrome extension, which could affect your computer in a negative way. You might find your browser’s settings changed, weird sites loading instead of your usual homepage, strange links in search results, and more redirects.

Sial.me removal

Now that you know what is causing the redirects, you can proceed to uninstall Sial.me adware. It can be done in two ways, manually or automatically. If you choose the latter, you will need to obtain anti-spyware software. Scan your computer with it and if the threat is found, eliminate it. If you would prefer to take care of the infection yourself, you can use the below provided instructions to help you. While it may take more time, you should be able to do it.
