Browser Hijacker

About redirect virus is a browser hijacker that can set your home page, new tabs and search engines to its domain. It does that without your permission, which makes a browser hijacker. There’s little chance you were aware of it being installed on your computer so the most likely way you got it was by installing software form the Internet. Additional items being added to software is nothing new and has been around for a long time. It’s the most popular way to spread browser hijackers, adware and unwanted applications. If you did end up with it, we recommend you remove virus.

How did virus get on my computer

Using the so called bundling method. You probably downloaded and installed software and used Default settings during the installation process. This habit is a problem that could have consequences. Advanced (Custom) settings lets you see what items are being installed along with the software. If you use Default settings, chances are you will miss additional, potentially unwanted items being automatically installed onto your computer. If it got installed onto your computer, you should delete virus.

What does redirect virus do

When gets on your computer, it changes your browser’s settings. Your home page, new tabs and search engine will be changed to its domain. You can’t change the settings back without having to erase redirect virus. So you’re stuck with being redirected to until you do so. If you use the search engine, you will be given weird results that will redirect you to suspicious websites. The reason it does that is because browser hijackers exist to redirect you to certain website to make profit. More visits means more money. You’ll also notice that you are being exposed to an unusual amount of ads. Again, those ads will lead you to weird webpages to generate traffic. Visiting those websites can be very harmful to your computer as they could have malware hiding on them. And the second you enter the site, that malware might download onto your computer.
