What is TeleGrab?

TeleGrab is a malicious application designed by cyber criminals to steal information from Telegram, a popular instant messaging service designed for private conversations. It seems that there are two different versions of this threat. The first one was discovered by malware analysts on April 4, 2018, whereas the second one appeared in their hands on April 10, 2018. Both versions of TeleGrab slither onto computers illegally, so the majority of users who get infected with it do not know that they have it installed on their computers. In other words, it is already a little too late when they discover and decide to remove TeleGrab from their systems. If you use Telegram on a daily basis, you should scan your system against TeleGrab too – it is becoming more and more popular. Nozelesn Ransomware

What does TeleGrab do?

TeleGrab is a threat that will steal private data from the Desktop version of Telegram. To be more specific, it collects information about the victim’s sessions, contacts, and previous chats. No doubt victims do not know that details about them are being recorded. As a consequence, they cannot uninstall TeleGrab from their computers. What does TeleGrab do with the stolen data? First of all, it uploads it to an account on pCloud, which is a Switzerland-based cloud storage platform. Malware experts say that there are at least 5 pCloud accounts associated with TeleGrab. As has been observed, information uploaded to them is not encrypted in any way, which means that anyone who can log into those accounts can access victims’ private data from Telegram. Do not let TeleGrab steal personal information from your computer – if you suspect that you have it active on your PC, check your computer and then, in case this infection is discovered, uninstall TeleGrab from the system ASAP so that it could not cause any serious problems linked to your privacy.

Where does TeleGrab come from?

It has turned out that TeleGrab is distributed through downloaders written in several programming languages, including Go, AutoIT, and Python. It does not ask users’ permission to enter their computers, so it takes time for them to detect it. If it turns out that this infection is installed on your system, it is very important to remove TeleGrab ASAP. As long as it stays active, it will automatically collect information from Telegram. As mentioned previously in this article, it focuses on the collection of private data from the Desktop version of this application.

How do I delete TeleGrab?

Sophisticated malicious applications like TeleGrab drop more than one malicious component on affected computers, so their removal is never easy. Because of this, we do not recommend that you delete TeleGrab manually. You should opt for the automatic TeleGrab removal instead. It is not very likely that you will delete it from your computer with a random anti-malware tool downloaded from the web because it is harmful malware. As a consequence, only a powerful tool could erase it for you. Choose the scanner you are going to use wisely!
