About TestOnlineSpeed

TestOnlineSpeed is a toolbar, classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Because it is a legitimate toolbar, you can download TestOnlineSpeed from the official download websites but in case you do not remember downloading it, it could have entered your computer via software bundles. TestOnlineSpeed is not a malicious computer virus so there is no need to be alarmed but it does exhibit some questionable behavior. It will make some unwanted changes to your browsers without your knowledge and might redirect you to dubious websites. It is possible that TestOnlineSpeed could also lead you to a dangerous domain and you might end up downloading malware onto your computer. This is why you should remove TestOnlineSpeed.

Why should you delete TestOnlineSpeed?

You can download TestOnlineSpeed from download websites but it can also enter your computer via free software. Freeware usually has some sort of item attached to it and when users install the freeware, they end up installing the attached item as well. This is refereed to as the bundling method. This does not mean that you should not install freeware at all, you just need to pay more attention to how you do it. If you choose Default settings during installation, you are making a big mistake. Those settings will not show you any attached items and you will end up installing them unknowingly. This is why you need to use Advanced (Custom) settings. They will allow you to see all attached items and you can deselect them.

Once TestOnlineSpeed is installed onto your computer, you will notice that it has set a new homepage. You might be prevented from changing it as well. So you would have to first delete TestOnlineSpeed and only then change it. Some users might think that the toolbar is quite useful and we’re not saying it isn’t, but it displays some questionable features, which make one wonder if it’s worth it. The search engine provided on the new homepage might insert sponsored content into the search results and you would be led to some dubious websites. TestOnlineSpeed wants to generate pay-per-click revenue and while most websites it could redirect you to are harmless, you could end up on a dangerous one. You could be tricked into downloading malware onto your computer and it would become a much more serious issue compared to a PUP. You check your Internet speed in other ways, and we suggest you uninstall TestOnlineSpeed as soon as possible.
