What are Tortuga Ads?

Tortuga is a potentially unwanted application that functions as a web browser. It was developed by ClaraLabs and is supposed to provide a faster and a more secure online browsing experience. Unfortunately, it does not follow through on its promises. The Chromium based program will flood you with commercial data no matter where you choose to go online. It will insert adverts labeled “Tortuga Ads”, “Powered by Tortuga”, “Ads by Tortuga” and similar into all of your favorite pages. There is no reason why you should tolerate that. We suggest that you terminate Tortuga Ads by uninstalling Tortuga from your PC.

How does Tortuga work?

Tortuga Ads is not the only program of its kind. It is very similar to such unwanted applications as Bobrowser, Crossbrowser, Torch Browser, Chromatic and some others. In most cases Tortuga, just like the other mentioned programs, gets distributed via freeware and shareware. When you install free software, you are offered to install additional applications. These are usually not very useful. If you do not notice the offers, you allow unwanted programs to get installed automatically. That is why you may not remember how the browser has entered your PC. If you want to make sure that never happens again, pay attention to every step of the installation wizard and decline all additional offers.

Once you start using Tortuga browser, you will notice much more commercial content than you used to. You will see pop-ups, banners, hyperlinks, interstitial ads, video ads and more. If you try using the search engine, you will be presented with sponsored links. It is important for you to know that these adverts are not endorsed by the program. They could be fake and if you click on them, you could infect your PC with malware or potentially unwanted software. To avoid that you should get rid of Tortuga Ads right away.
