What is AdsRemoved – AdBlocker & PopUp Blocker Adware?
AdsRemoved – AdBlocker & PopUp Blocker is an adware program. Ironically, it’s advertised as an extension that will block ads. It’s a program you might come across when looking for adblockers, but we doubt you actually installed it knowingly. Such programs oftentimes spread via the bundling method, which allows them to install without you noticing. If you continue reading, we will explain how you can avoid these unwanted installations in the following section of this report.
We should mention that the program isn’t malicious in the sense that it will not harm your computer directly. It primarily aims to make revenue by constantly exposing you to ads. Those ads are your biggest problem. Firstly, they are incredibly annoying since they appear suddenly and disrupt your browsing. Adware generated advertisements also aren’t always secure and can actually expose you to scams and malware. Thus, if you notice this program installed, we suggest you avoid interacting with ads until you remove AdsRemoved – AdBlocker & PopUp Blocker Adware.
How does adware install?
The program is advertised as an adblocker, so it is possible that you installed it yourself. However, we’re more inclined to believe that you installed it accidentally via the bundling method. It was likely attached to some popular free program you installed, and you did not notice. The attached items are usually hidden and are preselected by default, allowing them to install without needing your explicit permission. If you want to avoid these unwanted installations, you need to pay attention to how you install programs and opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when given the option. Those settings will make all offers visible, and you will be able to deselect all of them. If anything has been added to the program you are installing, we strongly suggest you deselect it.
What does AdsRemoved – AdBlocker & PopUp Blocker Adware do?
The program is advertised as an adblocker, and it will pretend to block ads. It does look like a adblocker and once added to your browser, it will show how many ads it has removed. It will also claim to prevent pop-ups and stop redirects. However, while it may look like it’s blocking ads, it’s actually trying to show you them in order to make revenue. These ads that it’s constantly trying to show you are why the program is considered to be adware. It’s not the most serious infection, although it is very annoying.
Because the ads that are pushed by adware are not exactly safe, we recommend you avoid interacting with them. You may be shown ads asking you to install supposed updates or programs, or ones that claim you have won something. The ones prompting you to install something are likely pushing malware, and the latter ones are probably phishing for your personal information.
We should also mention that the program tracks your browsing and collects information about you. Data like sites you visit, what you search for, your interests, etc. will be collected so that the program can generated ads you’d be more likely to click on. That information could later be shared with unknown third-parties.
