About BoostMyPC

BoostMyPC is a questionable optimizer program that is promoted as a tool that will supposedly boost your computer’s performance. It is also classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). In reality, it is a useless piece of software that tries to make money by making you pay for a service you do not need. Seeing as it has a doubtful reputation, you probably did not choose to install the PUP. It could have arrived into your computer via software bundles. If you do not notice extra offers when installing freeware, they are allowed to install alongside. And you would not notice until it’s too late. It will not harm your computer but it will try to make you buy the full version of the program. If you just ignore its alerts and delete BoostMyPC, you should be okay.

Why is BoostMyPC installed on my computer?

PUPs install onto computers using freeware bundles because rarely would people choose to install them if they knew what they really were. You may not be aware of this but free programs have additional offers that come with them. They are not obligatory but are set to install alongside the program. In order to avoid them, you need to manually deselect them. All you need to do is choose Advanced or Custom settings and uncheck the boxes of all extra offers that become visible there. Default settings will not show you anything, so avoid using them, unless you enjoy having to remove BoostMyPC and similar over and over again.

Why uninstall BoostMyPC?

When the program installs onto your computer, it will scan the system. The results will show you that various kinds of issues were found on your computer. It might even show a huge number to shock you. Unlike what is BoostMyPC claiming, those issues found are not serious. Optimizer tools of this kind find old registry entries and say that they are severely slowing down the computer. They are just leftovers from uninstalled programs and do not really affect the system, which is why even legitimate optimizer tools have such a questionable reputation. Going back to BoostMyPC, when it finishes the scan and you choose to use it to solve the issues, you will be asked to purchase the full version. There are trustworthy programs who perform scans and then ask you to buy the full version but you should always look into the program before investing in it. A simple Google search will give you plenty results doubting BoostMyPC. We do not recommend buying or even calling the displayed phone number. The people behind BoostMyPC might try to convince you to buy something you do not need. This is why we strongly recommend you delete BoostMyPC.
