About this threat

Pixel.yabidos.com is a browser hijacker that will change your browser’s settings so that you have a new homepage. The changes will occur suddenly and without your explicit permission, and as soon as the hijacker enters your computer. You probably did not even notice it installing, it was attached to some free program that you were installing. If you did not notice, you were unable to deselect it, thus it was allowed to install.

Pixel-yabidos

The hijacker is not a malicious infection by itself, thus is not referred to as a malware, although some users call it a virus. Mainly because it sets you a new homepage/new tabs and tries to redirect you to sponsored content. Hijackers are employed by site owners to generate traffic for their websites, which is why you may be redirected. If it happens constantly, it can get pretty annoying, as redirects happen via search engine and you have to navigate between legitimate and sponsored results. It should also be noted that some of those sites could lead to questionable websites, where you might end up getting malware. Hijackers don’t provide any useful features, and since they install without authorization, they should not be allowed to remain installed. We suggest you delete Pixel.yabidos.com.

How did you install the hijacker

Users install hijackers themselves, usually because they don’t pay enough attention to how they install programs. Hijackers, adware, other kinds of potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) are usually attached to freeware in a way that allows them to install alongside, without the user actually noticing. If you want to prevent these unwanted installation, follow program installation processes carefully. Read the information, don’t rush and make sure you always use Advanced (Custom) settings. Those added offers are usually hidden, and will only become visible in Advanced settings. Those settings also allow you to deselect the offers. It’s unlikely that any of them will be of any use to you, so it would be best if you just deselect all of them.

Why remove Pixel.yabidos.com?

The hijacker will make changes to your browser immediately after it installs. It should be able to affect all leading browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, so you probably have a new homepage no matter which browser you are using. Your new homepage/new tabs don’t have much to offer, just a search engine. Before you use it, however, read the Privacy Policy and find out whether it collects your information and how it handles it. The search engine itself is nothing extraordinary, it won’t provide any superior results compared to other search engines. It may also insert sponsored links among the results, so that you are redirected to certain sites, whose owners employ hijackers to generate traffic. More traffic means more revenue so hijackers are pretty useful to them. For you, however, it will be of no use as those sites will have little to do with what you were searching for. And like we mentioned before, some might even redirect to malicious sites, where you could encounter malware. If might secretly download onto your computer, and you will not necessarily notice it. If you are looking for a new search engine, you can find alternatives, ones that will not hijack your browser without permission.

Pixel.yabidos.com removal

Hijacker elimination is fairly easy, although if you have never done it before, it may a bit confusing at first. If you choose to manually uninstall Pixel.yabidos.com, you will have to find the infection yourself. If you are not sure how to proceed, scroll down to the instructions below this article. They should explain the whole process in a coherent manner. If, however, you would prefer to opt for automatic termination, acquire anti-spyware software. The program would take care of the infection for you, without you having to do anything.
