About Trackid=sp-006

Trackid=sp-006 can be encountered attached to searches users perform via Google. Many people seem to run into the issue and have no idea what is causing it. Whenever they search for something via Google, Trackid=sp-006 would appear at the end of the URL, and users would be redirected to the German version of Google.

Trackid=sp-006

This has raised a few questions, particularly what is causing this. Some program must have changed your browser’s settings so that Trackid=sp-006 is attached to the Google URL. These kinds of changes are usually performed by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that first appear to be completely safe/legitimate to avoid suspicion. It’s unlikely that you will encounter serious trouble with this but it’s incredibly annoying to put up with. We will explain how to delete Trackid=sp-006 later on in this report.

What is causing this?

You must have recently installed some kind of potentially unwanted program that is responsible for the changes done to your browser. You need to start paying closer attention to how you install programs because you can unknowingly provide them permission to change all kinds of things on your system. Make sure you always use Advanced or Custom settings and read everything when installing freeware. Those settings will allow you to deselect certain things, like providing permission to change your homepage to add Trackid=sp-006. If you don’t want to end up having to remove Trackid=sp-006 or similar, pay attention to what kind of programs you install, and how you do it.

You might not notice it attached at the end of the URL at first, but you will definitely notice that you are redirected to the German version of Google. You may be confused why that would be happening and try to change Google’s settings but it won’t work. Some users report that this only happens on Google Chrome, while others claim that it will appear on other browsers as well, like Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Some use various kinds of security software to scan systems for some kind of malware but nothing comes out of it. It’s not malware that’s causing this. Some unwanted program has changed your browser’s settings and altered your home website. If it was google.com before, now it would be google.com?Trackid=sp-006. All you need to do to delete Trackid=sp-006 is change your homepage, or reset your browser. As well as get rid of all questionable extensions and programs.

Trackid=sp-006 removal

Go to your browser’s settings, and check what is set as your homepage. It’s also possible that some PUP changed the settings to open a specific page on startup. Also make sure you uninstall all questionable add-ons and programs.
