Hijackers are not malicious infections, but keeping one is not recommended because they tend to redirect you to all kinds of sites, and they will not always be safe. Some could be malicious, and that could result in a malware infection. The reason you would be redirected to questionable sites is because more traffic makes more money. You get nothing out of it. So there is no reason to put up with it. Just remove citypage.today.

How did you obtain the hijacker?

Browser hijackers are added to freeware as extra offers, and if you do not want them, you need to deselect them. This cannot be done in Default settings so you need to choose Advanced or Custom instead when installing programs. If anything has been added to the software, you will be able to see it in those settings. All you need to do is deselect the boxes. You can then safely continue installing the program. Do pay attention to how you install programs and from where you get them because otherwise, you will constantly have to delete citypage.today or similar.

Why uninstall citypage.today?

If a hijacker is indeed on your computer, you will know immediately. Your browser’s settings will be changed so that its promoted site is your homepage and new tabs. Your search engine will also be changed, unless you were using Bing before. These changes are made without permission, and will be irreversible unless you first remove citypage.today. And they will affect most of the leading browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Your new homepage has a search box, links to some sites and photo background. The search box will lead to Bing, which makes the site pretty useless, as you can go to Bing directly. No need to use a third-party site. Clicking on the provided site links is also not recommended because you could be led to strange sites. After all, hijackers do aim to make money by redirecting you. Seeing as you will not gain anything by using this site, we recommend you delete citypage.today.
