What is PrudenSearch

PrudenSearch is a browser hijacker that possibly infected your device when you were installing a freeware. The threat was most likely added to a free program as an additional offer, and because you didn’t deselect it, it was authorized to install. It’s crucial that you are vigilant during application installation because otherwise, these kinds of threats will install again and again. PrudenSearch is not a high-level infection but its behavior will get on your nerves.

Your browser’s homepage and new tabs will be set to load the hijacker’s promoted page instead of your usual site. Your search engine will also be changed, and it may insert sponsored links among the legitimate results. The browser hijacker is doing that because it aims to boost traffic for some web pages, and in turn, earn money for owners. Some people end up with malware via these kinds of redirects since some hijackers are able to reroute to malicious software-ridden web pages. And malware would cause more damage to your PC than this. You might consider redirect viruses useful but you can find the same features in real add-ons, ones that won’t pose a threat to your system. You will notice more customized content appearing, and in case you are wondering why, the redirect virus is following your browsing and gathering information about you. In addition, questionable third-parties might be given access to that information. And the quicker you uninstall PrudenSearch, the less time the hijacker will have to affect your machine.

How does PrudenSearch behave

Freeware packages is the likely way you contaminated your PC. They are definitely very invasive infections, so it’s dubious anyone would install them otherwise. The reason this method is successful is because people act carelessly when they install programs, which means they miss all clues that something could be added. The offers are hiding and by rushing you loose all chance of seeing them, and you not noticing them means you will be authorizing them to install. Default settings will conceal the offers, and if you still select to use them, you could be risking installing all types of unwanted infections. Choose Advanced or Custom settings when you are installing something, and you will see the added items. Unless you wish to deal with constant unfamiliar software, ensure you always uncheck the items. Only continue installing the application after you have deselected everything. Having to deal with these threats can be quite annoying so you would do yourself a great favor if you initially prevented them. You are also encouraged to not download from dubious sources as they’re a great method to distribute malicious programs.

If a hijacker is installed, we highly doubt you will miss the clues. Your home website, new tabs and search engine will be altered without you approving it, and that’s pretty hard to miss. Main browsers including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox will likely be affected. And unless you first delete PrudenSearch from the computer, the site will load every time you launch your browser. The hijacker will keep overruling the changes back so there’s no use in wasting time attempting to alter anything. If you see that when you search for something through browser’s address bar, search results are made by a weird search engine, it is possible that the redirect virus is accountable. Be cautious of advertisement links injected among the results since you might be redirected. Owners of certain pages aim to increase traffic to earn more revenue, and they use browser hijackers to redirect you to them. Owners are able to earn more profit when their sites have more traffic because more users will possibly engage with ads. Frequently those websites have little to do with what you are were initially looking for. In certain cases, they could seem legitimate, so for example if you were to inquire about for something ambiguous, like ‘anti-virus’ or ‘computer’, results with doubtful hyperlinks could come up but you wouldn’t know in the beginning. It needs to be noted that browser redirects could also lead to infected pages, where you can bump into a severe infection. Redirect viruses are also interested in information about your browsing activity, so it may be overseeing your browsing. Unknown parties could also access the info, and then use it to create more personalized adverts. If not, the hijacker may use it to make more customized sponsored content. This is why you should delete PrudenSearch. Since the browser hijacker will no longer be there to stop you, after you complete the process, ensure you modify your browser’s settings.

PrudenSearch uninstallation

Hijackers should not stay installed, thus the sooner you delete PrudenSearch, the better. Manual and automatic are the two possible methods for disposing of the hijacker, and they both shouldn’t be too complex to execute. By hand method means you will have to do everything yourself, including finding the contamination. The process itself shouldn’t be too difficult, albeit more time-consuming than you may have initially thought, but you are welcome to make use of the guidelines provided below. If you follow them properly, you should have no problems. It may not be the best option for those who do not have much experience with computers, however. Downloading anti-spyware software for the removal of the threat might best in that case. The software will scan your system for the infection and once it finds it, all you need to do is permit it to eliminate the hijacker. You can now attempt to change browser’s settings, if you succeed, the threat should be gone entirely. If the same site keeps loading even after changing the settings, the browser hijacker is still present. Make sure you avoid these and similar threats in the future by installing programs attentively. Good tech habits will help you prevent loads of trouble.
