About this hijacker

Dig.coinup.org is a browser hijacker that may suddenly appear on your computer. If you happen to download some kind of freeware recently, that’s how the hijacker was able to install without you even knowing it. If it’s attached to freeware and you do not notice, it’s allowed to install. To prevent their installation, you need to deselect them, which can be easily done.

Dig Surf Search

Hijackers are not generally thought to be dangerous infections, as they do not directly harm the computer, but they should not be allowed to remain on the computer. They perform changes to your browser, set their promoted sites as your homepage and new tabs, and then try to redirect you. This particular hijacker will also collect information about you, including personally-identifiable, and it could be shared with third-parties. We strongly recommend you delete Dig.coinup.org.

Preventing hijacker installations

Browser hijackers are added to freeware as extra offers, and if you want to deselect them, you need to use Advanced or Custom settings during the freeware installation. Choose those settings instead of Default, and you should be able to deselect everything that is added. All you need to do is uncheck the boxes, after you do this, you can continue installing the freeware. A lot of free programs come with those questionable offers, so you should always make sure you deselect the added items. It takes much longer to uninstall Dig.coinup.org or similar infections that it would to just deselect the offers when installing freeware.

Why remove Dig.coinup.org?

The website which will be set as your new homepage is advertised as an easy way to access the Internet. The setting changes will affect all popular browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. And until you delete Dig.coinup.org, you will not be able to undo the changes. The site itself has loads of ads on it, provides shortcuts to sites like Facebook, YouTube, Booking, etc., as well as a search engine. The search engine is not unique, it merely redirects to Google, which makes it rather useless. If you wanted to use Google, you could just go there directly, no need to use a questionable website. On the site, you will also see sponsored content, which we do not recommend engaging with. It could lead to questionable or even malicious websites. There are users who choose to keep hijackers, but it’s not recommended you do so because while they’re not a serious infection, they still do not belong on your computer. Thus, uninstall Dig.coinup.org.

Dig.coinup.org removal

If you want to remove Dig.coinup.org, you can do so in two ways. If you choose manual Dig.coinup.org removal, you will have to find the hijacker yourself, which may be difficult because it could be hiding. If you are having trouble, you should obtain anti-spyware software and have it take care of the infection for you.
