What is 10000-mbest scam

10000-mbest scam refers to a website that hosts the Mr Beast Giveaway scam. Users may get randomly redirected to this site, either by adware or by the websites they visit. The site currently hosts a giveaway scam whose operators are impersonating a popular YouTube creator MrBeast who is famous for giving away large sums of money and expensive items. The Mr Beast giveaway scam aims to trick users into downloading questionable programs and providing their banking information. The scam claims that you will receive $1,000 once users provide this information. Because the real Mr. Beast is known for giving money to strangers, he is a convenient figure to use for scammers. In reality, MrBeast has nothing to do with this scam, his name/brand is merely misused.

10000-mbest scam

You can be redirected to 10000-mbest.com randomly, and you would be greeted by a cartoon image of Mr. Beast and a message saying “$1,000 has now been reserved for you” or “$1,000 to every subscriber who visit this page”. This is supposedly a reward for following Mr Beast. When you scroll down the website, you’ll see false comments discussing how the winners will use their money. There will also be instructions on how to claim your fictitious $1,000. To get the reward, you are asked to download an application and enter your PayPal email. Because it requests banking information, 10000-mbest.com scam can be considered a phishing campaign.

The program that users download through this scam is almost certainly malware, or at the very least, it could be a potentially unwanted program. The scam varies, making it difficult to pinpoint which virus or PUP, in particular, it is spreading. If phishing is the main objective, the infection may be a keylogger that records keystrokes and displays bogus login pages so victims can enter their login information. This can result in account theft and money loss.

It’s worth mentioning that these types of giveaways are always scams. Legitimate giveaways are never hosted this way, especially by known companies like Google or Amazon. You will never be randomly redirected to a legitimate giveaway while browsing the Internet. A legitimate giveaway would be announced via official channels, like social media accounts. Whenever you encounter an alert or notification that you have won something, you can safely ignore it. If you engage with it, you could end up giving away your personal and banking information to malicious actors.

If you have downloaded whatever program this scam is pushing, you should scan your computer with anti-virus software as soon as possible. Whatever malware 10000-mbest.com is hiding, it would be detected by your anti-virus program.

Why are you redirected to 10000-mbest.com?

There are typically two reasons for random redirects. Either you browse high-risk websites without an adblocker program or your computer has adware installed on it. In most cases, it’s the former. Certain websites are considered to be high risk because of the ads they expose users to. For example, sites that host pirated or pornographic content are often considered high-risk because of the ads. Fortunately, random redirects are easily preventable with an adblocker program.

If you find yourself getting random redirects even when visiting safe sites, your computer most likely has adware installed. It’s not a particularly dangerous infection, and if you don’t interact with its advertisements, it shouldn’t cause harm to your computer. Adware installs via software bundling, which means it is bundled with free software as an extra offer. Such offers are added in a way that allows them to install without your explicit permission alongside the program. These offers, however, are optional and can be deselected. However, because the offers are hidden in settings users don’t normally use, they are often left checked by users.

To deselect the offers, you need to use Advanced (Custom) settings when installing programs. If you use Default settings, all added offers will be hidden and permitted to install alongside. However, if you opt for Advanced (Custom) settings, all offers will be made visible, and you will have the option to deselect all of them. All you need to do is uncheck the boxes of those offers. Even if an offer seems useful at first glance, we usually advise deselecting all of them because chances are it will just take up space on your computer and cause issues. It’s also significantly easier to uncheck a few boxes when installing programs than it is to uninstall persistent infections like adware.

Whenever you get redirected to 10000-mbest.com scam, you can just close the window. You can use an adblocker program to block these redirects, especially when you visit high-risk websites. If you’re getting the redirects regularly, it’s a good idea to scan your computer with anti-virus software. Removing the adware is the only way to stop the redirects if that is what triggers them. And getting rid of adware is easiest using anti-virus programs because they take care of everything.
