Flash Keyboard is an Android app that add various stickers, emojis, etc., to your keyboard. While the app is completely legitimate, you can find users referring to it as a virus. It cannot be classified as such, however, as it is not a virus. Users refer to it that way because the app shows many intrusive ads, and can sometimes be difficult to delete.
The app can be downloaded from Google Play, where it has more than a million reviews, most of which are positive. Since this is a free app, it should not be a surprise that ads will appear, but many users believe the amount of ads is not right. Reportedly, they appear constantly, even on a lockscreen, which is frowned upon in apps as it is highly intrusive. And when users try to delete Flash Keyboard from their smartphones, they are unable to do it the easy way. When users install the app, they are required to grant the app administrative rights, which is why they cannot later uninstall it as usual. Should the app be uninstalled?
The app can be obtained from the Google Play store, and many of the review on the platform do state that the app is useful and delivers what it promises. It allows users to add emojis, gifs, stickers to their texts, it also learns the user’s typing style and adapts to it in order to make typing faster. The experience is often hindered by constant ads, however. No one likes them for obvious reasons, but it’s a source of income for free apps. Nevertheless, when app developers bombard their users with them constantly, the users are not likely to put up with it. Some users even report ads on the lockscreen, which is a particularly intrusive practice.
While the app is completely legitimate and certainly cannot be referred to as a virus, it does have its drawbacks. And if you have decided the pesky ads are not worth it, you might choose to uninstall Flash Keyboard. However, you may run into a slight issue.
Flash Keyboard removal
In order to be able to delete the app, you have to terminate its administrative rights. To do that, go to Settings -> Security -> Device Administrator, and turn of the apps administrator privileges. Once that is done, you should be able to remove Flash Keyboard as you would a normal app.
