What is Qbit System Care
Qbit System Care is a potentially unwanted program (PUP), advertised as a system optimization program. It’s a program identical to countless other ones, and they all aim to trick you buying the full versions. System optimizers are tools that clean your computer of junk, which can lead to system performance improvements. Because those programs are in high demand, scammers take advantage of this and release their own useless programs.
Qbit System Care may install without your explicit permission, via software bundles, and will claim that there are hundreds of issues. If you attempt to fix those issues using the program, you’ll be asked to purchase the full version. Now, there’s nothing wrong with developers asking users to purchase full programs in order to use them fully, but the problem with Qbit System Care and similar ones is that they don’t actually show you legitimate scan results. While the program may claim the identified issues are very serious, in reality they either do not exist, or are very minor. Thus, the program is using scare tactics in order to influence you into purchasing the program.
While this program may not be malicious, we do not recommend using it as it may be trying to trick you. Instead, you should delete Qbit System Care.
How does Qbit System Care spread?
If you have Qbit System Care installed but are confused about how it happened, it likely got in via the bundling method. Software bundling is a method often used by unwanted program developers because it allows programs to install without requiring explicit permission. What happens is that PUPs are added to free software as extra offers and if you do not deselect them during installation, you will end up allowing them to install. To prevent this from happening, opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when installing freeware. Those settings will make all added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect everything. You will see all kinds of programs attached, usually browser hijacker, adware and PUPs. You’re better off deselecting all offers when installing programs.
Should you uninstall Qbit System Care?
When the program installs, it will start pestering you with notifications about supposed issues on your computer. The scan that the program will perform will show rather worrying results, with potentially hundreds of issues on your device. They’re usually related to unwanted programs on your computer or registry entries. We suggest you carefully check the results because the program is likely showing you fake results in order to influence your decision about purchasing the program. If you want to use the program to fix those identified issues, you will be asked to purchase it.
Qbit System Care seems to mess with your registry entries, which is a bad idea. Even Microsoft advises against using programs that include registry cleaners as they can do serious harm to your device. Worst case scenario, you may need to reinstall your Windows because deleting a wrong entry could make your computer unbootable.
Whether legitimate or not, system optimizers are a debatable topic. A lot of tech-savvy users believe they are unnecessary since computers can maintain themselves. However, if you think your computer could benefit from a system optimization program, there are reliable and safe ones like CCleaner.
